Shawls... shall I again?

Shawls are my "péché mignon". I can't stop to knit them. But how much shawls is too much shawls? Each time I'm thinking about a new project, a so-called shawl or wrap or stole come to my mind. I've knitted a few since my "come back" in the Knittaterra.

My first shawl - knitted in the summer of 2006 - could be called "Simplicity": triangular, garter stitch only. It's the first project of my "knitting second debut".

The second one was the popular FBS designed par Evelyn Clark. I will call that little baby alpaca garment, "Softy". (yarn: discontinued Indiecita)

The third one was for my mother. I'll call it "Cashy" (I don't refer here to money (!), but to the blend: Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk DK - 75% Extra Fine Merino, 20% Silk, 5% Cashmere; color: pebble. So soft and agreable to knit. ) This shawl was a combination of the Little Arrowhead Shawl designed by Pam Allen, and an edge I found in Jane Sowerby's Victorian Lace Today. Very easy, except for the "turning of the edge". I tried to figure out how to do it and the final result was not so bad. (On the photo, edge and triangle were not yet assemble, and I don't have an image of the finished object. I finished it on Christmas morning, blocked it in a hurry: three hours under three fans!)

The fourth one, the "Wingy shawl" is the Myriam Felton's Icarus Shawl I finished a month ago (yarn: Skacel Merino Lace). It's still not blocked...

For now, I'm knitting one who could be called the "Sleepy Reading shawl" because I intend to wear it as a bed shawl on frisky winter reading nights. It is the Summer Shawlette designed by Sandi Wiseheart (yarn: Zarina, by Filatura di Crosa: a reminder of la dolce vita del'Italia...). I love the construction of this mini-faroese and I've learned a few new things about shawl design when knitting the first part of the pattern. I will post a photo of the finished object when I returned from P.E.I.

Speaking of Anne's Island... In the perspective of the vacations that are coming soon (I'm leaving next tuesday), I'm thinking of a new project, designed by "bibi" ("myself" in french slang; pronounce "beebee"), knitted in Laceweight Baby Alpaca by Misti International, and inspired by some of the patterns of Sharon Miller in Heirloom Knitting.

Why do I love to knit shawls? For the process and for the result. Enough complex to free my intellect when I'm knitting, extremely comforting when, intellect back, I'm working on a paper!
